Strengthening the Working Atmosphere Together - Active Bystander Training at the BIH

Inappropriate behavior damages the work culture and has a negative effect on the individual concerned. In order to further nurture the positive and productive work environment at the BIH, an Active Bystander training course was held at the BIH office on January 10. The 90-minute workshop, initiated by the BIH Executive Board, is designed to empower all employees to challenge unacceptable behavior in the work place and, if necessary, to address it directly. "We want the employees to feel supported and to know that there is no room for harassment and bullying at the BIH," said Andrea Runow, Chief Financial Officer (comm.) at the beginning of the training. Together, the participants discussed various case studies and, based on the four Ds – direct action, distraction, delegation, delay – worked out ways to maintain a collegial and respectful cooperation.
